Gingerbabies

Gingerbabies are little felt gingerbread ornaments I make every year around Christmas, usually as gifts for friends and family.

Lil' Vinnie Puffs

I made little Vincents to celebrate Vincent's first birthday.

I also made a Lil' puff of my friend Diem's dog, Guy.

Plushies

These began as a way to use up my fur scraps and are just really fun to make.

School Fundraisers

I am a proud parent of two kids attending public school. The reality of public education is that fundraising is always an issue. I have worked with my kids' classes on several occasions to create items to be auctioned off at the annual fundraiser.

Collage Neighborhood: I worked with Toby's class to build a collage of our neighborhood. Each kid created their home in paper collage and I made the school. I scanned all of the homes in and made a digital image, which allowed me to layer and resize a few things.  There are lots of delightful little stories in the details.

Upcycled Bug Collection
: We had the kids make bugs out of recycled materials then we tagged and mounted them.

They gave their bugs names which we translated into Latin and they listed where they "found" them.

This year Gideon's class was only 15 kids, so my husband had the brilliant idea to have them make a chess set. They each made 2 pieces out of Crayola Model Magic, using a wooden disc as a base. I printed pictures of the pieces exactly to size, so they were able to compare their work to the pictures on their handouts. I figured that even if the pieces got "creative" the relative sizes would let the players know which was which.

They did an amazing job! I painted the pieces and made a custom box for them, but the magic of the whole set is definitely the lopsided excitement direct from the kids' hands.
